Introduction

Hi

I’m Haley. Welcome to my blog. It’s new and I’m new to it. I’ve had so much inspiration from bloggers that I love with their ideas, style, homes, recipes and just their lifestyle, that I thought, I should start one myself!

I’m a registered nurse. A full time mom, wife and part time domestic achiever. I say part time because let’s be honest, we all have failed recipes, ideas and just days in general. I also have wins, achievements big and small that I am proud of and want to share. I’ll share my fails maybe with you because let’s be honest, no one is perfect!

I decided to name my blog the Midwest Mabel because it’s so me and my life. I live in rural North Dakota in a farming community and live on a farm. My husband farms and ranches and he loves it. He is and was my childhood neighbor, we actually grew up three miles from each other. So I picked the Midwest part as a nod to where we live. Truth be told sometimes when we travel I hate getting asked what we do because I think we sound so Midwest and traditional. “I’m a nurse and my husband is a farmer.” But I really do love the Midwest and North Dakota.

The Mabel comes from my mom. I’m the only girl in my family and the baby so I’ve spent a lot of time with my mom growing up in the kitchen, yard/garden and shopping. When I was younger she would always say, “Mabel, Mabel, set the table!” telling me to get the kitchen table ready for supper. Now as an adult she still will refer to me as “Mabel” when I cook/bake something or make something homemade.

So that’s me, the Midwest Mabel.
