Continue to Learn

Everyone is learning. My one year old is learning like crazy. They say at his age is the most a human learns in a short time frame. Crazy! I love watching him learn and love learning myself. True story, I was that nerd in college that liked lecture. If, that’s the key, if I find interest in the topic I love to learn and listen. Some people are talkers and some are listeners and I have to say I’m a listener.

Lately I’ve had a desire to learn something new! I enrolled in an online class and in the first lecture I had to grab a pen and paper because I was so interested I needed to take notes. It has nothing to do with my nursing career. And I enjoy it! I’m always interested in learning something new whether it’s hands on, online or an in person class.

A coworker and I discussed awhile back how education, learning and developing continue to evolve throughout your life. We both agreed in medicine you learn something new all the time. As a nurse you go through school and you come out and you feel like you are great. (Like you just made it through nursing school, you are pretty awesome😁). But any nurse will tell you that once you started your first job you quickly found out you had a lot more to learn, and how much you continue to learn. Most people in health care have to do so many continuing education every year to keep their license because you’re constantly learning. And really life is like this too. I have learned so much as a mom, but something different can happen any day that I have no clue about. You continue to learn!

I dare you to learn something new you have always wanted to or just something you are interested in. Look for a local class in your area. Enroll online. Read a book. Or go back to school! Try something new and learn from it. Never stop challenging yourself to try and learn something new!
